The One Pound Link

Privacy notice

The data controller for this site is the person who runs The One Pound Link (see "Who runs this site" in our terms). Contact: ada096387@googlemail.com.

What we collect and why

When you buy the link: the web address, link text and display name you enter (shown publicly, because that is the point; your display name and the amount you paid may also be announced on our Bluesky account), the amount you paid, and the email address you give Stripe at checkout. We use these to run the service, handle refunds and respond to problems. Our lawful basis is performing our contract with you.

Card details are collected and processed by Stripe. We never see or store them.

Your connection: we store a one-way scrambled version of your IP address when you start a checkout or send a report, to limit abuse. We cannot turn it back into your IP address. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the service fair and safe.

Reports: the reason you give when reporting a link.

Visit statistics: we use Plausible Analytics to count visits, see which sites send us visitors, and measure things like how many checkouts are started. Plausible does not use cookies and does not store your IP address or build a profile of you; it receives your IP address and browser details briefly to count unique visitors, then discards them. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The site stores your unfinished purchase details in your own browser so you do not lose them if you cancel at checkout.

Who we share it with

Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (bot protection and network services), Google (checking links against its list of unsafe sites), Plausible Analytics (visit statistics, hosted in the EU) and Fly.io (hosting, in London). Each processes data only to provide their service to us.

How long we keep it

Purchase records are kept for six years for tax purposes. Public link history stays on the site unless you ask us to remove your display name. Scrambled IP addresses are deleted after 90 days.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by emailing ada096387@googlemail.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
